Waney edge fence panels have been around for some time. They often form the budget level fence panel for most garden fencing retailers.
As with other fence panels they come in the usual standard sizes of 6ft wide by 3ft, 4ft, 5ft and 6ft high. These fencing panels are formed from boards that are laid horizontally and overlap the board beneath.
The term waney edge comes from the shape of the board. The board is thinly and roughly cut from the core of the tree trunk out to the barked edge and the barked edge is often rough and uneven hence the waney edge description.
Because the boards are so thinly cut these panels are lightweight and cheap although being lightweight tends to mean their life cycle is shorter than that of other panels. On the plus side they do come fully framed and braced on the front and rear side.
The panel does however offer privacy at a reasonable price hence the popularity of these garden fencing panels.

Featheredge Fence Panels
Featheredge fence panels are one of the most common styles of fence panels used for garden fencing. The panels are clad with feather edge boards which have a wedge profile. These wedge profile boards allow for the boards to be overlapped to give a good strong cladding.
There are generally two types of feather edge panel, a standard and heavy duty variant. The standard panel will often come without framing just having two or three rails supporting the overlapped boards.
The heavy duty feather edge fence panel will often have a full frame around the panel as well as the cross rails for extra strength.
As well as heavy or standard you may well get an option on dipped or tanalised panels. Dipped are merely dunked in a treatment tank whereas tanalised are pressure treated so anti rot treatment is fully impregnated into the timbers, obviously tanalised offer greater durability but will cost slightly more than dipped.

What Are Garden Fence Panels?
Garden fence panels are a popular and common way to fence off your property. Made from timber these fence panels don't provide great security but do offer privacy and decoration.
As a rule these fence panels are made in standard sizes of generally 6ft wide and vary in height from 3ft through to 6ft. The standard width of the panel makes maintenance and replacement easy in the future.
To aid in installation and maintenance these fence panels can often be fitted between adjacent slotted concrete fence posts. The slots down the length of the fence post make fitting the panel easy as all you haver to do is slide the panel down the slot and hey presto the panel is fitted.
Garden fence panels coming in a variety of styles offering plenty of decorative alternatives. Some of the most prevalent styles are overlap and feather edge panels although a number of designs have appeared on the market making it possible to really bling up your garden.
