Waney Edge Fence Panels

Waney edge fence panels have been around for some time. They often form the budget level fence panel for most garden fencing retailers.

As with other fence panels they come in the usual standard sizes of 6ft wide by 3ft, 4ft, 5ft and 6ft high. These fencing panels are formed from boards that are laid horizontally and overlap the board beneath.

The term waney edge comes from the shape of the board. The board is thinly and roughly cut from the core of the tree trunk out to the barked edge and the barked edge is often rough and uneven hence the waney edge description.

Because the boards are so thinly cut these panels are lightweight and cheap although being lightweight tends to mean their life cycle is shorter than that of other panels. On the plus side they do come fully framed and braced on the front and rear side.

The panel does however offer privacy at a reasonable price hence the popularity of these garden fencing panels.
